ABEC’s Partnership in Hyperscale Data Centre Innovation in Saudi Arabia
ABEC has provided its specialist expertise in data centres to a hyperscale data centre in King Salman Energy Park (SPARK) in Dammam, Saudi Arabia – a joint venture formed between Tamasuk and Quantum Switch. ABEC is one of Quantum Switch’s strategic partners, responsible for developing a set of global standards in BMS, EPMS and ICT Networks, which are replicated across multiply regions.
This data centre, amongst others, will primarily serve a new cloud region that will allow companies and organisations in Saudi Arabia to enhance their digitalisation objectives in the form of higher quality and more reliable digital services. The 10MW facility is part of many located across Riyadh, Jeddah and Neom and will host government digital infrastructure development initiatives and non-profit schemes; and also support the cloud provider’s regional growth.
ABEC recommended the Schneider Eco-Struxture System, a combined BMS and EPMS IoT-enabled, plug-and-play interoperable architecture and platform ideal for data centres. The platform enables embedded connectivity and intelligence using standards-based communication protocols and the ability for smart devices to perform native analytics and make control decisions.

Matthew Litten, the Group Commercial Director said:
“Our speed of setup and ability to build effective partnerships with local businesses meant we were able to work quickly to deliver the project to a very high standard. The Dammam project is one of the most interesting and challenging we have delivered, with the harsh environment in terms of temperature and humidity adding a real complexity to the design of the facility. ABEC secured the contract as our client knows we take full ownership of a project and back ourselves to deliver. Setting up new supply chains comes with risk. ABEC’s capability to quickly mobilise in a new region means clients can instead just trust in us to go where they go.”
