Can you tell us a bit about your role and when you joined ABEC?
I have been with the company since October 2023 and my role covers a range of areas. I oversee onboarding, IT and equipment, fleet and travel, health and safety management, and training and development.
What do you enjoy most about working for ABEC?
For me, it’s the flexibility and positive company culture; I feel I can be myself around my work colleagues. That’s not something you find in every business.
What do you like most about your role?
The variety of work is my favourite feature. I enjoy the fact that I face new challenges every day. It also allows a lot of interaction with my coworkers. Building these relationships and making a positive impact on my colleagues work life is something I really value.
What is your proudest achievement?
Being able to contribute positively to a recent health and safety audit, especially as I had no prior experience of this. Also, I’m proud to have become a first aider, mental health first aider and fire marshal – all ways I can help ensure the safety and wellbeing of our colleagues.
What has been a highlight of your time with ABEC so far?
Attending a CBRE Supplier event . I was able to meet potential new clients and help showcase ABEC as a company. Also, being a part of the Christmas children boxes charity campaign is so important to me, so I feel very lucky to be a part of that.
What are the main challenges you face day to day?
ABEC is an international business and in my role, I work with our teams across the world. As a result, I need to understand and adapt to the culture, customs, rules and regulations in different countries. It’s not always easy but it’s essential when a business operates globally.
Why do you think clients choose to work with ABEC?
I believe it’s because ABEC has a good reputation and is reliable, always delivering excellent customer service and meeting deadlines. Also, one of the strengths of the business is the ability to adapt to change in an industry that is always growing and changing.
What sets ABEC apart from its competitors?
Over the last 20 years, ABEC has built a brand identity that stands out in the industry. We also have highly skilled employees, who have vast knowledge and years of industry experience.
What makes a good client/supplier relationship?
It’s all about clear communication, respecting time constraints, accepting feedback, monitoring risks, performance management, getting to know suppliers, being open minded and behaving ethically.
What changes do you expect to see in the BEMS sector in the next 10 years?
With a focus on sustainability and the use of renewable energy sources, the sector is well-positioned for future expansion and innovation over the next decade. The UK’s continued emphasis on environmental goals will make the significance of building controls even clearer.
When you’re not working, what do you enjoy doing?
I like to keep busy with the gym, yoga, spending time with friends and family, painting, going for walks, shopping and travelling.
If you weren’t working for ABEC, what would be your dream job?
I’d love to be a professional athlete or perhaps working on a cruise liner. My dream is a role where I can travel the world.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?
The Maldives or South Africa to see the ‘big five’ – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino – on safari.
Can you tell us a fun fact about yourself?
When I was a teenager, I got through to audition for Britain’s Got Talent as a dancer.
