Meet the team – Tristan Lee
Next up in our series, we introduce one of the more newest members of our team, Tristan Lee, a project manager who joined ABEC in May 2024.
In his first year with the company, Tristan has quickly become an integral part of our team, handling projects of all sizes across the UK.
In this interview we discuss his role, the challenges he’s faced, and what he loves most about working with ABEC.
Can you tell us a bit about your role and when you joined ABEC?
I am a project manager here at ABEC and I work on projects of all sizes across the UK. I have joined the company in May 2024.
What do you enjoy most about working for ABEC?
A big part of it is the variety of the projects I get to work on. These range from smaller jobs, completed in a few days, to large-scale projects that involve our teams from across the UK and Europe. I also enjoy finding ways to overcome the challenges that projects can present. It’s really satisfying when an issue is sorted, and the job is completed successfully.
What is your proudest achievement?
I’ve not been with ABEC long but so far, my proudest achievement has been completing a job on an extremely short turn around. With such a challenging timeframe, it initially looked like it wouldn’t be possible to meet the deadline. But with a bit of hard work we were able to complete the work and reach handover two days earlier than the client’s programme demanded.
What are the main challenges you face day to day?
BMS is relatively new to me as I come from an electrical background, so getting to grips with the specifics of the industry has been a challenge at times. However, I’ve had a lot of help from my colleagues, which has made integrating into the world of BMS much easier.
Why do you think clients choose to work with ABEC?
I believe our clients choose to work with ABEC because they know they will get a high quality of service from the start of a project to the handover.
What do you think is ABEC’s biggest strength?
Even in the few months I have been with ABEC it has become clear that our strength is the fact that everyone is willing to lend a hand to sort any issue, even if they weren’t initially involved on the project – it’s a real team effort.
What sets ABEC apart from its competitors?
ABEC is a very forward-thinking company and whenever there are changes in the industry, we always strive to be ahead of the game. This is something that runs through the business, from the senior team to those in the field.
When you’re not working, what do you enjoy doing?
I am a massive Newcastle United fan, so I love following them, and I enjoy a couple of pints on a Saturday with my mates.
If you weren’t working for ABEC, what would be your dream job?
Growing up I’d loved to have been a footballer, however I was nowhere near good enough to make it as a professional.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I loved living in Australia, so I would happily go back there.
Can you tell us a fun fact about yourself?
Last year, I raised over £1,000 for charity by cutting my waist length hair.
